DON'T BE DECEIVED BY THE PICTURE... it's really not that nice to eat.... but one thing great about Thamel is that after 9+ at night, most of bread shop has 50% off their breads
The streets of Thamel at night..
Could hardly believed that I successfully cleared my IWCF on day 0 of my trip, managed to pack on that day itself and dragged myself to the airport with 4hrs of sleep....

Transit in the Thai airport was a breezy affair, in 6 hrs, we were at the international airport in Nepal! Flight was full of ang mohs, thus the long queues at the "visa on arrival" counter. US$40 for a 16-25 days visa with 5 people at the counter issuing u with a visa, talk about job creation. Zzz...

First impression of Kathmandu is that it's not as dirty as Bangladesh but roads are complicated. Only main roads have names, smaller ones where the ghettos are don't have any. Their MOE reminds me of CHIJ Punggol's old building. Their MOFA is a shy away from the Vietnam's art museum.

Anyway, as it is a package tour booked from SG, we had a pretty decent hotel for the night. It's fashionably situated in the touristy area of Thamel. Thamel is full of shops selling counterfeit North Face and Mammut products. Of course, we had our share of rendevous at a shop. Decided to get a pair if pants, long sleeve shirt and a sleeping bag liner (shopkeeper claims it's silk, don't believe).

Dinner was at New Orleans cafe. Er. My 1st taste if Nepali cooking. Not too good. It's a bit like Bangladesh where the quality of food isn't too good as the general income of the population is relatively low.
