Firstly, I am safely on the rig! Single dulux room. =P No one to fight toilet and changing room with me at all. haaha... Food here is salty and not very nice. However, the curry is good. I like it and it's not too spicy.
I was just reading the news online. Oil price is at a record $89.30. "-_- No doubt, it's going to past the 100 dollar mark at the end of the year. In the upstream industry (drilling), it's really bustling with a lot of activity. Seriously, I am not expecting to rest much after the end of this project, probably more to come. Frankly, if I had known or any advice from anyone earlier, I wouldn't have signed a bond with my current co. The pay is getting more and more ridiculous. A lot of people on board that I know are being paid ridiculously and given fantastic benefits (yes! like flying business class). Companies are bowing down to the workforce demand as there's a real shortage of manpower now, even the lowest ranks of labourers (roustabouts). Yah, I was reading the daily personnels on board and a lot of people here have been offshore for more than 40 days. Yes, it's quite poorly regulated in Bangladesh.
I was just talking to Jj. Told him that my pay should be pegged to 10 times the production oil price. You see huh. If my day rate is $893.00, it's only paying me barely paying me US$25k a month. This is really nothing compared to drilling the well. If this well is successful and produce gas, it will probably last banglesh between 10 to 15 years. Wah lau... so paying me $25k a month is really really nothing compared the billions of dollars that the well is expected to produce. *sigh*
when's my pay increment??
