waiting for the local bus outside the airport

Damn anxious to board the plane. It's free-seating. That explains the kiasu-ism..hehe

ohhh...john is damn afraid of taking planes....*open secret* shhhhhh....

Initially, I had a lot of reservations coming on this trip because I looked incredibly malay and the eastern coast is mostly made up of the more conservative malays living under the rule of the opposition. I read before about these places having cultural police around and stuff. Basically, it didn't look very safe place to be. Purposely bought my buff along, just in case. *wink* we all barely had like 3 hours of sleep before we had to board cabs and daddys' car to go to woodlands and head for the airport. THose freaking taxi drivers just love to ku-to us, the tourists. Assholes.... The Airasia flight took us direct to Kota Bahru. We reached there at like 8.30am. hahaha....We decide not to be spoilt brats and went looking for the local bus-stop to get us to the city itself. Kota Bahru was way above our expectations. We expected it to be every bit more backward then JB. Nope it isn't. It has clean streets and back alleys okie!!!! It's really much safer being here than in any other place in Malaysia. You know, you won't feel like every pair of eyes is looking at you when you walk along the streets. We took shelter at this place called Ideal Traveller's Lodge. Recommended by lonely planet. We stayed in a dormitory. Cost us RM$8 per bed. It looks a little dirty for my liking. But I chose to stay quiet about it. hmm....and guess what, that very night, John had some bugs on his bed. He's got bitten all over. Eeks!!!! Yes, those whatevers crawled into her berms at night and bite his butt. hahahaha....damn funny when he told us about it this morning. The entire day was spent walking around the the town. Let's see, we visited almost every attractions on foot. Central market, arts village, MACDONALDS and a couple of places. There isn't really much to see as we didn't want to spend money to visit muesums and such. Oh well..hehe...We thought kota bahru is an arts hub. It isn't that arty farty...songkets shops, kite shops batik shops.... Dinner was pretty alright bah...we had a lot....ALWYN, DON'T BE JEALOUS. WE REMEMBERED YOU!!!! Had Bak Kut Teh, muah chee, spring rolls, desserts and those people even had space for watermelon @ supper. TSK!! hahaha....and suprisingly, we have no qualms dining at road side stalls, meaning, we had chendol, ching chow etc too. hahaha....really courting stomachaches. But somehow, a trip won't be fun if you don't try.
