Day 1- Karilung, Yogyakarta

Day 1 has been relatively exciting for urban kids like us! Whilst planning for the trip, Nx has warned me against jam- packing the whole day with activities. Haha.. So I sorta didn't do much planning and let the adventures unfold on its own.

We had KFC at the airport for lunch. It was kind of sianz in a way, cos there is this taxi driver who is bent on "carrot-caking" us the moment we got out of immigration. Ya, he knew this is going to be the only comfortable way out of the airport and insisted on waiting for us. Ended up got "chopped" 120,000 rupiah for a 1 way trip from the airport to Karilung.

Karilung is a mountainous town. I wasn't really expecting not to see tourist as it is one of the starting point up Gunung Merapi- the live volcano.

Checked in Vogel's Hostel -> mosquitoes and barking dogs alert! We chose to stay at the White bungalow. It's 150,000 rupiah per room, pretty clean with a problematic water heater. Took me 5 minutes in the toilet to figure out how to get running hot water for 10s and I have to start the process all over again. Haha..

This is literally the kind of place where you can sit and stare at each other for the whole afternoon. Hahaha... Weather is cooling as we were 900m above sea level, only wished that the teh su su tasted much better.

Signed up for the morning walk up Gunung Merapi. 100,000 rupiah each. 5 hour trek. 1hr up, 2hrs at summit, 1.5hr down.

It's 810pm local time. Need to sleep!

Warm Regards,
